Workbasket #15

Workbasket #14

Sometimes, no matter how hard you work at doing something or finishing something it just won’t come together.  Right now, for me, it is the “Easter” sweaters that I blogged about yesterday.

I made wonderful progress yesterday.  I was on the home stretch on the blue having completed each side of the neck/collar and joining the front back together (in spite of having to frog about 2 inches).  Upon returning home from Knitting Night, I left that project bag in my car. My plan being that I would take it to work with me tomorrow and knit on it during my lunch break.

This morning I went out to my car to find that someone had gone through it.  I am thankful for all the “valuable” things that they didn’t find to steal that were in the car.  What they did take was super annoying.

They took my work badge.  It’s not that I can’t afford the $11 it will cost me to replace it.  It is the hassle of having to take the money to the business office, pay, get a receipt, go to the communications center, show them my receipt and then wait to have a new one printed out.

They took my car scissors.  They are stronger than the usual paper or fabric scissors.  I keep them in the glove compartment to use “just in case”.  I don’t remember where I got them.

They took the charger for my GPS. Not that I use it, in this age of the smart phone.

And finally…

They took the bag with my little sweater knitting.  In the bag was the nearly finished larger sweater AND the fully completed smaller sweater along with all the extra yarn I would need to finish the second one.

I have decided that these sweaters are just not meant to be, at least not this year.

Don’t get me wrong.  I am extremely thankful that the windows weren’t broken and they didn’t steal more or damage or despoil the inside of my car.  But, yes, I am irritated.

The cherry on this sundae, was that the door wasn’t quite closed and the outer 1/3 of the seat was wet.

:-/

Thank you for letting me vent.

What should I work on next…?

  1. If it makes you feel any better, I had my car jockeyboxed the same way and the person only took a hand made wool, tweed, tailored coat that my mother had custom made to fit me. I’m so sorry that all your efforts are in vain and that the boys won’t get to enjoy the sweaters.
