Block No. 22 – The Zinnia
(text)
Block No. 22 of The Modernistic Flower Quilt represents a zinnia – not the daintiest of flowers, but one capable of taking any amount of color you care to give it.
The pattern, followed in applique, builds up the blossom in four parts, the body of it in yellow, the sunburst upon that in orange, the larger circle upon the sunburst in yellow and the central circle in orange.
The leaves are green, with yellow stitching the length of them, as indicated by the broken lines. It is suggested the stem be made purple, for the sufficient modernistic reason that the design needs another color.
The spots of color, mentioned in size downward, as usual, are green, orange, green and purple.
Next week: the bleeding heart
