Grandmother’s Flower Garden Quilt – Progress #14

Progress #13

It was time to finish of the pieced basket blocks for this quilt project. While working on the flower blocks, I worked from a notebook with all the pieces for the blocks tucked into each sheet protector.

The balance of the pieced blocks were set aside to finish at a later date. Then I put them someplace safe.  Super safe.  I had to look and look to find where I had put them.  Finally I found the basket with all the pieces. It was also FULL of bias strips for making handles.  I don’t know why I made so many.  I guess I will have to make another quilt with baskets on it.

Separating all the other triangle and square pieces, made it easy to sew together components as talked about here.  Each set of components was separated into “packets” to make the full block.

After completing these, there were still lots of blocks left.  I must not have math-ed correctly at the beginning of this project.

Working in assembly line fashion all the blocks were pieced together.  All except the large white triangle at the bottom.

I couldn’t find those… During the last rearrangement of the sewing room I had moved them and had no idea where I had put them.  Over the course of a couple of days, I looked here and there and the other place.  Disgustedly giving up, I picked up a piece of fabric off the sewing chair that I had been sitting on.  Guess what?  You guessed it, the white triangles I had been looking for were under that fabric.  I had been sitting on them the whole time.

Now that the pieced blocks were completed, it was time to add the flowers to the baskets.

I am very happy with how they turned out! What do you think? Do you have a favorite?
