Block No. 16 – The California Poppy

Block No. 16 of the Modernistic Flower Quilt presents a second variety of a flower already patterned, but this poppy is orange – the California sort – and the other was the red oriental.
Justification for the repetition, if any is needed, must be that the poppy is the flower of sleep and therefore is entitled to appear twice on a coverlet dedicated to sleep.
Make the blossom orange, then, and also the two spots at the ends of the spreading stems. The dotted lines on the stem ends indicated overlap; they are not to be stitched. Stitching on flower and leaf is yellow.
Stems, leaf, the triangle at the right edge and the two irregular shaped inserts beside the stems are green.
Also green is the largest color spot; the spot with it is orange. The largest remaining spot is orange, the one beside it green and the other two yellow.
