Spinning & Plying
One of the things I really enjoy about spinning yarn is that when I want to be busy doing something but am too wiped out to think, I can still spin. Another thing is how soothing the rhythm of a spinning wheel is. For me it is the same as sewing on my treadle sewing machine. This week I was able to finish the second braid of fiber from Spinner’s Candy in the colorway “Dragon’s Breath”. But I didn’t stop there. I have been very eager to see how it looks plied together.
After finishing the last of the single, I immediately wound it off the bobbins and into center pull “balls”. This way I could begin making a 2 ply yarn with the center pull strand and the outer strand.
I am really liking how it is turning out, but also wonder what it would have looked like as a 3 or 4 ply yarn. Maybe next time…
Purple Produce Bag
Having finished my last produce bag, I began this one. The last one was started on short tipped cable needles and I had not started “in-the-round”, thinking that it would just be easier to sew it together later. It kinda really was a bummer to “finish” knitting the bag and still need to sew up the bottom. This go around, I broke down and got out the DPNs. I started with short little ones, moved up to longer ones, and then planning on back to the cabled needles for the sides of the bag.
