Potential New Project – Swim suit(s)

The Victorian Trading Co. catalog cover inspired me to make vintage swim suits. After losing the cover, I rediscovered it and found its origin from a 1909 postcard. The details are still in progress, but the postmark provides a starting point for my research. Due to the weather, the project will take time.

Son shared a link to NorthernFox for his wife’s birthday gift, inspiring the creation of Viking-style garments. After measuring, cutting, sewing, washing, and ironing the fabric, the garments took shape. Both the under dress (Serk) and apron dress (Smokkr) were constructed, with hand-sewn seams and carefully crafted straps. The finished outfits pleased the recipient.

The post details the final touches on a dress from a 1930s pattern. The author adjusted the hem to a more modern length and modified the collar for better movement. Three snaps were added to adjust the neckline. The dress is now finished, marking the completion of one of three summer dresses planned.
