Workroom #111

In my mind, this is a double W.I.P.s post. It was ready to be posted last week and then… I didn’t post it. Normally the progress of the week before would be in a previous post. This week the progress will be more closely compared. 😉

Dolly Dearest

The first week seemed like TONS of progress from the previous week (but it is difficult to really tell because I hadn’t been measuring with the tape). The lighting is greatly different from at home and at work! I am pleased with the 1.25 additional inches that I was able to achieve this week.

Mermaid

The little headless mermaid from last post has grown a head. That is exactly as it felt while working on it. I could have made more progress, but the next step called for eyes and I couldn’t find my stash of child safe eyes. That would require a trip to Joann’s.

The eyes and nose really makes this little cutey come alive. Once the head was stuffed and closed and with the eyes, I found myself holding her head as if she was a real baby. I had to laugh at myself.

The next step is her little hair-do. She will be sporting the sea-buns hair style. I will be removing Pixie’s contribution to this project (dog hair).

Quilt Borders

As all of my projects go, I got efficient at it at the end of the endeavor. For the last long side border I began the quilting with the middle and worked outward from there. There was much less fussing. I couldn’t resist pulling the basting stitches after quilting the center most part.

This week finds that all the borders have been quilted and attached to the original quilt. (Oh phoo! I just realized that I forgot to get a pic of the back of the quilt where the joins have been covered. I will go over that next week). For covering the joins on the front of the quilt I am using me-made biased tape. I am using the same fabric that the quilt will be bound in, although much more narrow. The tape is doubled and sewn down with machine. The second side, I am hand stitching down. This picture is from the second of the two short sides.
